Once, the name Kiba-kai had been a whisper that traveled fast—an omen in the dark corners of Kugane, where power, fear, and greed intertwined. The streets had pulsed with the rhythm of their influence: the clinking of gold, the shuffle of shadowed feet, and the ever-present hum of power shifting in unseen places. The syndicate had influenced not just the underworld, but the very heart of the city itself; a force so great that no rival had dared stand in its way.Then, the city fell quiet. The thrum of activity that had once defined Kugane slowed to a crawl. The lanterns dimmed, and businesses shuttered at the mere mention of the syndicate’s name. The streets felt… different. Eerily so. As if something heavy hung in the air, waiting, watching.The once prominent Wolf had slipped into the shadows, his once-bright flame barely a perceptible ember. To the untrained eye, it may have seemed as though the syndicate had simply faded away. But to those who remember—those who knew what Kiba-kai was—it was clear that something was stirring beneath the surface. The silence was not an end, it was the calm before the storm.

And a magnificent storm it was...

At the center of it all, there had been a name rising from the ashes: Fukushima Eno, the Gold Snake. Former mouthpiece to the Wolf, she clawed her way to the top of the decaying syndicate with a cunning ambition and deadly resolve. The city had begun to speak of her with a mixture of fear and respect, her name whispered in the same breath as Kiba-kai’s former glory.Under new leadership, Kiba-kai was poised to reclaim its throne and Hingashi’s underworld had to brace itself for what was to come. Rivals in the shadows had felt the stir of Kiba-kai’s return and watched with uncertainty. The silence that had once defined the streets now carried a new weight: that of a predator waiting for the perfect moment to strike.And though Kiba-kai’s resurgence remains veiled in secrecy, one thing had been clear to all: when they moved, it would not be a subtle shift. It would be a force that rattled the very foundation of Hingashi. The streets would tremble once more and the city would remember that Kiba-kai was not just a whisper in the dark. It was a storm gathering strength.The quiet had only been the beginning.

The Family⸻|| Our Goal

(We are current with the Dawntrail expansion.)At first glance, Kiba-Kai appears to be just another syndicate born from the underbelly of Kugane. Once one of the largest crime organizations in Shishu, (for reasons unknown), it has since dwindled to a mere handful of clansmen. Yet, with its rebirth, the syndicate's influence is growing, extending even into the western nations.For those who join the syndicate and bear its 'mark,' there is but one goal: to spread the influence of Kiba-kai, whether that be through business, insertion or corruption.The true motive remains unspoken; only those who prove their worth and earn the trust of their oyabun will uncover the truth.Business and laundering are the games at play, for everyone speaks the language of gold and coin. Dare to face the challenges of a rising cartel? Or perhaps you're curious about the corruption lurking within business and politics? Maybe you're simply looking for someplace to belong? Inquire within.

Ninkyodo⸻|| Yakuza Code of Ethics

Hierarchy

Oyabun (also known as kumichō or kaichō): Boss, father, chairman; the top of the food chain. The oyabun (surrogate father) oversees the kobun (surrogate children) in a parent-child like relationship and holds supreme authority. Respected, revered and highly regarded, the oyabun’s word is law. Kobun are loyal to the oyabun and see to it their methods and ambitions are executed.Wakagashira (young head, first lieutenant): The next oyabun, the right hand; plays a key role in managing the family's members and handling conflicts or disputes. The position is seen as a crucial one for maintaining order and loyalty within the organization. The wakagashira often acts as a mediator between the oyabun and the lower-ranked members, ensuring that orders from the boss are carried out effectively. The responsibilities and influence of the wakagashira are significant, as they act as the oyabun's right-hand and are often entrusted with making decisions on the boss's behalf.Saiko-komon (also known as komon): Chief advisor, head advisory; a highly respected figure, often someone with a great deal of experience in Yakuza groups and is not necessarily involved in the day-to-day operations or decision-making of the group. Instead, their role is to provide counsel and guidance to the oyabun and other senior members of the organization. The saiko-komon is a respected, senior advisor who provides wisdom and advice, often acting as a mentor or guide to the current leadership.Shateigashira (second lieutenant, younger head): Regional managers; the shateigashira are responsible for maintaining discipline and order among the group's members, ensuring that they remain loyal and perform their duties effectively. Like other Yakuza positions, the role of shateigashira is one that involves strong leadership, loyalty, and responsibility to the family. Their duties include supervising the kobun (subordinates), ensuring that they follow the rules of the organization, and carrying out orders from higher-ranking members.Kyodai (older brother): Senior members and siblings; the kyodai is often a trusted member who has earned their place through loyalty, experience, and service to the organization. They are typically peers to the oyabun (boss) or the wakagashira (second-in-command), but their role can vary depending on the specific structure of the family. The kyodai relationship is important in the Yakuza code of loyalty and respect, emphasizing the bond between members who view each other as brothers. This sense of familial connection is central to the Yakuza's hierarchical and structured way of functioning, and kyodai members are expected to support each other and remain fiercely loyal to the family.Shatei (younger brother): The fledglings, the newest members; shatei members are often referred to as "foot soldiers" in the Yakuza structure, and they may take on a variety of roles, from handling illegal activities to more menial tasks, as they prove their loyalty and skills within the organization. They are considered part of the core of the Yakuza family, which operates based on a code of loyalty and honor. They are expected to show loyalty, follow orders, and contribute to the activities of the organization. In return, they receive protection, guidance, and the benefits of being part of the Yakuza family.Shokunin (artisan, tradesmen): The prospects, retainers; shokunin are members who have dedicated themselves to a specific role within the organization, whether it's in the realm of organizing illicit businesses, handling finances, or managing enforcement activities. Much like traditional shokunin, they are expected to be professionals in their field, possessing a high level of mastery and a sense of duty to the group. Shokunin are potential recruits, providing support and expertise to the organization and showing their devotion to the Yakuza family.

Law and Order

Respect of Authority and Honor: The backbone of order and structure within Yakuza families. Respecting hierarchy means understanding and adhering to the established order or structure within Kiba-Kai. It involves recognizing and honoring the roles, authority, and positions of individuals according to their rank or seniority. In contexts such as the Yakuza, respecting hierarchy is essential for maintaining order, discipline, and harmony.Do Not Steal from the Everyday Man: A principle that reflects a moral and ethical stance against exploiting or harming ordinary individuals, particularly those who are vulnerable or marginalized in society. It emphasizes respect for others' labor, resources, and dignity, and upholds the idea that people should not be taken advantage of for personal gain, especially those who may not have the means to protect themselves or fight back.Do Not Disrupt the Harmony of the Family: Emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace, unity, and balance within the family. It suggests that one should act in a way that preserves the well-being and stability of family relationships, avoiding actions that could cause conflict, division, or harm. This principle is often rooted in cultural, moral, and social values that prioritize collective well-being over individual desires.Do Not Touch or Pursue the Spouse of Another Member: Deeply rooted in respect, loyalty, and ethical behavior, emphasizing the sanctity of personal relationships and the importance of maintaining trust within a group or community. This principle is especially prevalent in traditional cultures, organizations, and social structures where relationships and personal boundaries are highly valued. Marital boundaries are to be respected at all times.Always Act Chivalrously: A principle that calls for individuals to behave with honor, respect, and a sense of duty, especially in interactions with others. Derived from the ideals of medieval knighthood, chivalry is often associated with traits like courtesy, bravery, loyalty, and a commitment to justice. In modern terms, acting chivalrously means upholding high moral standards and showing integrity in one's actions.
